Did you know...?
Language Shouldn't Limit Safety
Women who are non‑native English speakers face significant language barriers that limit their access to domestic violence resources and legal protections - about 9% of the U.S. population ages 5+ speak English “less than" very well. Source
Left Out Because of Language
Kids in households where no parent speaks English at home are far less likely to participate in school meetings and activities - only about 50% of such families participate, compared with about 78% of families where both parents speak English at home. Source
Struggling Parents, Struggling Kids
Around 21.4% of U.S. school‑age children speak a language other than English at home. When parents struggle with English, children often face additional academic and social challenges -affecting school enrollment and long‑term opportunities. Source

Make a Lasting Impact
Volunteering with CSJ Learning Connection isn’t just about giving your time - it’s about changing lives. Every lesson taught, every story shared, and every bit of support you provide empowers women to gain skills, confidence, and independence. Your contribution helps break down barriers and opens doors for families who face language, social, or economic challenges. The impact of your work is real, measurable, and deeply meaningful.
We are currently seeking volunteer teacher assistants the most, but we welcome volunteers with a variety of skills. You can find the list of professions and roles we’re looking for below.
The Rewards of Volunteering:
Volunteering is not just about helping others - it’s about growth for yourself too. Seeing the women and families you support thrive is a deeply fulfilling experience, one that leaves a lasting impression on both their lives and yours.
